Our Story
In 2021, six Latinos — spanning three generations — came together over a shared frustration: despite Montclair's reputation as a diverse, progressive community, the American Latino experience was largely invisible.
What started as a mission to host Montclair's first-ever Latino Heritage Celebration has grown into something much bigger.
Today, Latinos of Montclair convenes hundreds of residents across New Jersey through arts and culture programming, social gatherings, youth and family events, and community partnerships that go far beyond the expected.
Our events are elevated experiences — film screenings and author talks that spark real conversation, cultural enrichment and leadership programs for the next generation, dance nights rooted in orgullo and joy, and cafecitos where strangers become community.
What began in Montclair is becoming a model for Latino community building across New Jersey — and we're just getting started.
We believe that when Latinos see themselves celebrated, supported, and connected, communities become stronger for everyone. We invite partners, allies, and anyone who shares that vision to join us in building a more inclusive New Jersey.
